First Aid Kit


If you own a pet, you should own a pet first aid kit! It is ideal to have a bigger well stocked first aid kit for at home as well as a travel size one you can throw in a bag to take with you on walks and vaccation!

What should I put in my first aid kit?

  • Gauze sponges/ Sanitary napkins
  • Antibiotic ointment
  • Artificial tear gel
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • 10 cc syringe(or small turkey baster)
  • White petroleum jelly (Vaseline or similar)
  • Sterile, non-adherent pads
  • Bandage scissors
  • Hydrocortisone acetate -- one percent cream
  • Sterile stretch gauze bandage -- three inches by four yards
  • Cloth tape one inch by 10 yards
  • Vet Rap bandage
  • Hydrogen peroxide 3%
  • Iodine swabs/ wound cleaning solutions
  • Kaopectate tablets maximum strength
  • Pepto Bismol Tablets
  • Generic Benadryl capsules -- 25mg, for allergies
  • Rubber Gloves
  • Rectal Thermometer
  • Blanket
  • Tweezers
  • Muzzle (long shoe strings or actual muzzle)
  • Ziplock bags
  • Head Lamp
  • Nail Clippers
  • Stiptic Powder
  • Paperwork, including the dog's health record, medications, local and national poison control numbers, regular veterinary clinic hours and telephone numbers, and emergency clinic hours and telephone number.
